CHAPTER: An Impure Reunion Chapter 7

7.
“It’s a mild fever. She’ll get an IV drip and can be discharged tomorrow.”
“Thank you. Thank you so much, Doctor.”
The doctor added that she shouldn’t worry and then left.
His words finally allowed Jian to breathe a sigh of relief.
Sitting on a small chair next to the emergency room bed, Jian stroked the forehead of Seol-ah, who was breathing softly.
Beads of sweat still dotted the child’s brow.
Jian wiped them away, one by one, with her hand.
Suddenly, the words of her close friend, Kangji, from when she’d announced she was leaving for England late last year, filled Jian’s mind.
‘Will Seol-ah be able to adjust to life in a foreign country?’
After escaping Taejun’s grasp,
after Seol-ah was born,
and while the child was growing up, Jian had lived her life holding her breath.
The reason was that she didn't have the confidence to handle him if she ever caught his eye.
After several years of this, she had cautiously mustered the courage to make a move.
She couldn’t bring herself to roam freely in Korea with peace of mind.
So, she decided to leave Korea and start a new life in a foreign land.
‘
Considering your situation, leaving is the right thing to do, but she’s already so shy around strangers. I’m worried.’
Kangji had voiced her concerns about Jian and Seol-ah living abroad.
She was especially worried about Seol-ah, who was very timid around others.
Knowing this, Jian had still brought Seol-ah here.
For the past ten months or so, it had seemed like they were doing well, but apparently, that wasn't the case.
“Mommy must have only been thinking about herself.”
Jian stroked Seol-ah’s sweat-dampened hair.
The child, who had been struggling for her life just a moment ago, had now fallen into a deep sleep with a peaceful expression.
Watching her child’s face, Jian could finally relax a little.
Just then, the curtain moved, and several men appeared.
“What’s going on?”
“We were instructed to move her to a private room.”
“Wh-what do you mean…?”
The men immediately began to push the bed Seol-ah was lying on.
Startled by the sudden situation, Jian quickly gathered her things and followed them.
She worried that the abrupt movement might wake Seol-ah, but the child remained sound asleep even as they moved.
Soon, they brought the bed into none other than a private room.
Her wonder at who could have given such an order didn't last long.
“How is the child’s condition?”
“It appears to be a mild fever. Nothing to be overly concerned about.”
Inside the private room, Taejun was talking with a man in a doctor’s gown.
There was only one person who would give such an order: Taejun.
Suddenly, the child began to whimper.
Jian hurried to the bedside and stroked her daughter’s hair.
Thankfully, the child seemed to fall back asleep quickly.
The conversation between the doctor and Taejun reached Jian’s ears.
“Just in case, please run some simple tests.”
“Yes, we’ll run the most thorough tests we can here.”
“Please take good care of her.”
As soon as their conversation ended, everyone else left the room.
In the single-patient room, only the soundly sleeping child, Jian, and Taejun remained.
After confirming that the child was sleeping peacefully again, Jian drew the curtain to prevent any noise from waking her.
Then she approached the sofa where Taejun was sitting.
“Tests?”
“What happened overnight to make her like this? Is the kid weak or something?”
Taejun said, frowning.
Displeasure was evident in his gaze as he glanced at the child.
“Just do the simple tests and have her admitted for a few days.”
“……”
“You don’t have to worry about someone to watch her while you work. I’ll have someone here to care for her starting tomorrow.”
Taejun ignored Jian’s words and continued saying what he wanted to say.
At his behavior, Jian finally pressed her lips shut.
Taejun suddenly rose from his seat and closed the distance to Jian.
“That will put Heo Jian’s mind at ease.”
“……”
“Won’t it?”
Jian avoided Taejun’s gaze as he approached her.
A little while ago, as she was frantic with worry, holding a sick Seol-ah, someone had called out to her.
‘Why are you out at this hour?’
The person speaking familiar Korean was none other than Taejun.
It seemed he hadn't left the area around Grace.
It was surely to keep an eye on me.
But unfortunately for Jian, the moment she saw him, she was so relieved that the tears she had been holding back finally fell.
‘My child is sick. My child…’
Even knowing Taejun was lingering to watch her, Jian had no other choice.
She desperately needed someone to take her child to the hospital right away.
She grabbed the arm she had rejected just that afternoon and pleaded earnestly.
‘Please take us to the hospital. I’m begging you.’
In the fast-moving car, holding the feverish Seol-ah in her arms, Jian thought she had let out a sigh of relief.
But now, after entrusting her child to the doctor, facing Taejun made her regret having reached out to him for help.
Taejun caressed her cheek and tried to lean his face in.
Jian turned her head, quickly avoiding his advance.
“I brought you here when you were frantic about your sick kid, and yet….”
“……”
“You give me the cold shoulder?”
A subtle smile played on Taejun’s lips as he began to caress Jian’s face more persistently.
The feel of his hand naturally wrapping around her body was a burden to Jian.
Jian tried to push his hand away and moved toward the child’s bed.
Or rather, she tried to.
“Wh-what are you doing!”
“Well, what does it look like I’m doing?”
Before she knew it, Jian found herself sitting on Taejun’s lap.
And his hands wrapped explicitly around her body.
His lips descended upon her exposed nape several times.
The foreign sounds echoed through the hospital room.
“The ch-child is here. Stop… Mmph.”
Her words to stop were swallowed by Taejun’s lips.
He thirstily pushed his breath into her mouth and, in an instant, laid Jian’s body down on the sofa.
In their first kiss in five years, Taejun devoured her as if he had lost his reason.
As she took him in, him who didn't even give her a moment to breathe, Jian felt her mind grow hazy.
Finally unable to bear it, Jian tapped his arm hard.
Only then did Taejun stop his assault on her lips.
“Ha, damn it.”
He pulled away, and a long thread of their saliva stretched between them.
Jian covered her lips with her hand and glared at him with resentful eyes.
“Stop it.”
“Why?”
“My child is sleeping right over there. Common sense says that anything more is inappropriate here, don’t you think?”
“Well, I was thinking with common sense.”
“What…?!”
She thought he would stop if she said that, but Taejun’s answer was different.
His absurd reply left Jian speechless.
“It’s the middle of the night, and we have a place to tumble around.”
“M-Mr. Joo Taejun!”
“After I’ve been celibate for five years, this much seems only fair, don’t you think?”
“……”
“Am I wrong?”
Taejun showed no sign of backing down.
His eyes, as he looked at Jian, shone like a predator with its prey right before it.
As she met his gaze, Jian’s eyes began to tremble.
Taejun gave her a short peck on the lips and said.
“Take pity on me.”
Contrary to his words asking for pity, the current situation was one where he should be taking pity on her.
The light pecks gradually deepened.
As his lips touched her neckline, Jian squeezed her eyes shut.
“Hngh, hhh.”
Only after leaving a dark mark on Jian’s neck did Taejun lift his face.
Unlike Taejun’s steady gaze, Jian’s eyes were trembling.
“If I had my way, I’d take you to a hotel right now, but you wouldn’t want that.”
“M-Mr.Taejun.”
“Why do you say my name so plaintively? It drives a man crazy.”
“…Wh-what do you mean, hngh.”
“Heo Jian is still the same.”
“…Ngh.”
“Driving a man crazy with this sweet body of yours, you really haven’t changed.”
While Jian was momentarily stunned, he buried his face in her chest.
His lips touched the area around her collarbone, which had been exposed as she shifted.
The lewd sounds that resulted made Jian’s face flush bright red.
“Ugh… hhh.”
Even so, Jian had to feel disgusted with her own body for reacting to Taejun’s actions first.
One by one, at Taejun’s hands, Jian was stripped naked.
He expertly pressed his lips to various parts of her body.
Jian bit her lip hard to hold back the sounds that threatened to escape at his actions.
How long had it been, this act of pressing their bodies together?
The last time was on that bitterly cold day, the day she left his house.
It must have been five years.
Despite the long time, Taejun was skilled.
He knew all too well where to touch to make Jian let out a shrill sound and react.
“Ugh, mmph.”
A sly smile spread across Taejun’s lips as he watched Jian’s reactions.
As he caressed her body once more, he whispered quietly in her ear.
“Hold it in.”
“…Hhh.”
“It’ll be a disaster if the kid hears.”
Taejun still remembered.
He remembered very well that his own soft, penetrating voice made Jian even more desperate.
